IPHONE VS SAMSUNG
Brand
ingression of Samsung Galaxy SIII has evoked more heat in the arena for
Smartphone Championship. This battle has taken new levels of excitement
and it is just the matter of time now to decide who brings the bacon
home.
In
truth, there is heads on confrontation between Apple and Samsung for
final position. It’s a great fun to compare Apple’s iPhone 4S and
Samsung’s Galaxy S3 and see which one holds water and which one is in
hot waters!
Display:
iPhone
comes with 3.5-inch screen and uses revolutionary Retina display
technology. In-plane switching LCD with a 960×640 pixel resolution and
330 pxl/inch pixel density, make display excellent. Display screen is
repellent to oil prints or other marks due to its oleophobic surfacing.
Corning Gorilla Glass (finally confessed) and incredibly sharp picture
quality are also among other incredible features.
Galaxy
S3 has largest display screen; 4.8 inches in size, super AMOLED HD.
Picture resolution is same as Galaxy Nexus; 1280×720 which means 306
pixels per inch. Galaxy S3 also enjoys Corning glass feature.
Galaxy
S3 outraces iPhone due to its much larger screen size that makes it
more enjoyable in usage. In return, iPhone takes edge when it comes
about sharpness and colors. At least I wont scratch my head in confusion
to decide better phone on the basis of display. I would go for Samsung
Galaxy S3 because larger screen is what users look for these days.
Width and Weight:
The
difference between widths and weight of galaxy S3 and iPhone 4s may be
quite important for many users. iPhone 4S is 0.37 inches wide and weighs
140g. On the other hand, galaxy S3 is thinnest among all others in
line. It is 0.34 inches wide and weighs only 133g.Samsung Galaxy and
Apple iPone
With
these specs mentioned, we can say that galaxy offers more in little
space where as iPhone weighs more with lesser stuffed hardware. The
other feature that lies only with galaxy S3 is the SD cards can be
inserted after batteries being removed.
Camera:
Apple’s
iPhone brings 8 MP camera with BSI and 3264×2448 pixel resolution.
Besides, LED falsh, geo tagging, auto focus together with face detection
provide stunning camera experience. Samsung galaxy S3, too, brings
same features. 8MP camera with 3264×2448 resolution, auto focus, LED
flash, face detection, almost all features exist here as well.
But,
Samsung sweeps the party by adding some other features on the top of
others. Zero-lag shutter allows taking 20 continuous pictures without a
shudder. The arresting feature of Galaxy S3 is that it identifies people
in the picture and sends them a copy.
Processor:
Apple’s
iphone has a dual core processor running on a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 based
processor. Performance of processor is quite good. Users do not suffer
any stammering or faltering while running iOS.
Galaxy
S3 brings an Exynos 4 Quad 1.4 GHz quad core system on chip processor
which is the most powerful processor in the race. Usage experience is
fascinating with this processor because it also offers no stuttering and
bumbling at all. Due to its more powerful processor, Galaxy leaves
others far behind.
Operating System:
This
is the stage where iPhone and Galaxy S3 are at daggers drawn with each
other. iPohne 4S runs Apple’s own iOS 5.1 chopine where as galaxy S3
runs the ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) version 4; Google’s Android system.
Android
is world’s smartphones best evolved operating system till now. It’s
faster, it’s reliable and it’s robust. Samsung galaxy S3 comes with
Android 4 which is far better than 2.3 version. It brings more clean
menu layout, a more colorful interface, more friendly multi-tasking
tools. Samsung has empowered it with TouchWiz interface. S-Voice control
is awesome voice assistant software that performs given tasks via
spoken commands.
iOS
is also simple, user-friendly and powerful operating system but when it
comes to multi-tasking options, it lags behind Android. It is rather
static platform and performs best when used for least tasks.
In
order to decide better mobile phone on the basis of operating system,
you would have to scratch your heads for long in confusion. It depends
on your personal preferences. For multi-tasking and customization,
Galaxy S3 is better.
Winner….????
Samsung’s
Galaxy S3 is much lighter, far thinner and sleekly svelte designed and
right at this day, Samsung Galaxy S3 outguns iPhone 4S. But we are quite
sure that this championship would not last long with Samsung because
Apple is expected to launch new iPhone 5 any time from now. Apple is
pioneer of smartphones and is always known for bringing new dramatic improvisation.
The
Apple iPhone 5 takes on the Samsung Galaxy S3, but who comes out on top
in this epic clash of the titans? We square up the specs to find out
Whether you love the sound of the new iPhone 5,
or massively underwhelmed by the latest Apple smartphone instalment,
it's probably going to sell in its millions and have fanboys queuing
outside Apple Stores across the world.
Fear
not Android lovers, for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is an Android smartphone
goliath that should prove worthy competition for the iPhone 5. The
question is, does the S3 actually boast better features than the latest
Apple blower? It's time for a smartphone spec showdown...
Apple iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3: Build
Apple iPhone 5
Let’s
start with the chassis because, let’s face it, that’s the only distinct
visible change to differentiate it from its two previous family
members. Grasp the frame in your hand and the first thing you’ll notice
is the weight; it’s the lightest iPhone ever.
By a long way. At 112g, it’s 20% daintier than the iPhone 4S, 16% less butch than the Samsung Galaxy S3 and 14% lighter than the HTC One X. Reducing the SIM to weency, or ‘nano’, size has helped, minutely, as has making the shell out of anodised aluminium.
The brace of glass strips adorning the top and bottom of the rear give both the black/slate and white/silver models a premium feel but are actually employed to allow an uninterrupted phone signal. No-one wants another antennagate.

Samsung Galaxy S3
Available
in 'Marble White' and 'Pebble Blue' (pebble... blue?!) and now titanium
grey, the Galaxy S3 is sporting a curvier look than the iPhone 5 . It
actually looks far less like it's older brother, and actually more
resembles of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus,
both in size and contours, although the plastic finish on the back
feels more premium than its predecessor. Measuring 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm,
the S3 is slightly longer, wider and fatter than the S2 (125.3 x 66.1 x
8.49mm), which may prove to bit a little on the large side for some
although the extra thickness may actually make the S3 slightly easier to
hold and less likely to slip from your hand, particularly when taking a
photo. At 133g, the S3 is very slightly heavier than the S2, although
only by 3 grams, so it's barely noticeable.
Many analysts think that the new Samsung Galaxy S3has acted as the killer of iPhone.
However, this thing is yet to discover that whether S3 is actually that
good as it seems, or not. Apparently the features it shows are mind
blowing. If we have a look over S3 from technical view point, it can be
said that S3 is the winner. However 4S’s operating system is the most
stable system along with the treat of it robust and elegant design.
Samsung S3 and iPhone 4S, both have voice controls systems. 4S has “Siri” and S3 has “S Voice“. The two of them has the “speech to text”
feature that enables you to make phone calls and answer a huge number
of questions. The favorable fact for S3 is that 4S’s voice control
system is very inclined to mistakes, so it makes enough room of
improvement for S3.
The
Apple 4S has completely reshaped its notification system by merging all
of them into a notification centre on the display top, whereas in
“smart alerts” of S3 it happens that when you pull out your phone from
pocket the notification appears with little vibration.
A
very interesting feature is that the Apple iCloud saves everything in
the cloud. So if you save anything from iTunes, they will be
automatically saved in your library. There was news that Galaxy would
also come up with same kind of cloud feature, however, S3 has gone for
Google G Drive having 5GB free mass storage in cloud. Also Samsung
Galaxy comes with AllShare service. You can share your music, videos,
pictures, etc in other devices of Samsung as well.
Both
smartphones have connectivity features, HSDPA, Galaxy has 21Mbps and
iPhone 4S has 14.4 Mbps. Samsung Galaxy also has 4G LTE connectivity,
which is absent in Apple 4S. Samsung Galaxy can help with the social
media interaction more effectively. It is debuted with Google Plus,
Facebook and Twitter, whereas iPhone 4S has Twitter connected with it.
Samsung Galaxy also has a feature that it recognizes your friend’s face
and share picture with him or her automatically.
Galaxy
camera has a very interesting feature as “Best Photo”. It chooses the
best photo out of 20 and deletes the rest. Both have 8 mega pixels
camera.
Cutting
the long story short, Galaxy S3 is better with long battery, sound
specifications, extravagant appearance and strong CPU.
Apple iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3: Screen
Apple iPhone 5
The
four-inch screen, which we’ll come onto in detail shortly, is Apple’s
belated nod to the industry trend for bigger displays, and means the
iPhone 5 now stands a proud 123.8mm tall – width remains the same at
58.6mm. The extra screen real-estate is welcome, though smaller-handed
iPhone users might struggle to reach the standby button with a
forefinger while holding it in a natural position. They might even have
to stretch for the extra top row of apps. Just hold it a different way,
perhaps.
It’s
still a lovely and Retina; it now boasts 326ppi and a resolution of
1136x640; it’s equally as bright and slightly richer in colour. There’s
space for a whole extra row of apps – woop! – and tasks can still be
performed with one hand. The main benefit is that you can just see more.
Web pages are longer, movies are wider, though many we found from iTunes and YouTube still
have to be stretched or cropped to fill the screen, the photo viewing
area is bigger (just) and Apple’s own, optimised apps make good use of
the extra space.
Samsung Galaxy S3
The
S3 one-ups the iPhone 4S and HTC One X on screen size, with an enormous
4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, which displays at a maximum resolution
of 720 x 1280. At 306 pixels per inch, the screen is slightly below the
quality of the HTC One X and the iPhone 4S but frankly, 306ppi is still
eye-searing stuff. Everything that we said about the HTC looking great
because of it's size is even more true of the Samsung Galaxy S3. Once
again the screen uses Super AMOLED technology, to keep the viewing angle
as wide as possible.
We
know that the iPhone 5 hasn't come out yet, and Apple is stubbornly
refusing to make any statement whatsoever regarding their upcoming
smartphone. Thankfully, however, a series of leaked images and
information have provided us with a pretty good idea of what the iPhone 5
will probably look like. So here we go.
The Design: No Contest
The
Samsung Galaxy S3's design was a noticeable improvement on the bulky,
cheap-looking S2. The S3 is certainly sleeker, and even feels more
natural to hold. That said, there's no way the Korean company can
compete with Apple in the design department.
The
iPhone 4 somehow achieves the distinction of being both an industrial,
mass produced product and a work of art at the same time, and the iPhone
5 will likely include a number of key improvements that make the new
smartphone even more beautiful than its predecessor. Leaked images of
the new iPhone will replace the back casing's glass surface with a
two-toned, metallic body. One popular rumor suggests that Apple will use
"liquid metal" that looks metallic but feels like glass. Even if to an
aluminum body, like with the iPhone 3, it's pretty clear that the iPhone
5 will look and feel better than the Samsung Galaxy S3.
The Screen: Bigger Isn't Always Better
The
Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the biggest smartphone's on the market,
with an impressive 4.8-inch screen. However, the excessively wide phone
(7.6mm across) is simply too big for some hands to handle.
Meanwhile,
the iPhone 5's release is expected to mark the first time Apple
increase's the iPhone's screen size since the first model was released.
According to a number of leaked images, the iPhone 5 will have a taller,
4-inch screen, though the width will stay the same. This is a smart
move by Apple. The company recognizes the importance of width in regard
to how it feels to hold the device. The new iPhone 5 design will keep
the same feel that users love, while still increasing the amount of
display real-estate.
Both
smartphones are expected to offer the same resolution of around 720 x
1,280. However, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 boasts a Super AMOLED
screen, the iPhone 5 will likely stick with its popular IPS display.
Although the AMOLED screens are known for their vivid colors, IPS offers
a more natural display.
Camera: Endless Possibilities
The
current iPhone 4S features the same eight megapixel camera available on
the Samsung Galaxy S3, and we can expect Apple to make some new
improvements to their new smartphone's camera. Little is known about the
iPhone 5's camera, but a number of top patents from Apple include the
possibility for a multi-focus sensor and even a 3D camera.
Counterpoint: The Case For The S3
There's something to be said for the S3, and several valid arguments to go with the Android smartphone over Apple.
The
best reason to go with the Samsung Galaxy S3 is its battery. Samsung
made a real effort to design a powerful battery for the Galaxy S3, and
the result is at least 20 percent better than the competition. The
iPhone 5 will likely have a battery life slightly longer or the same as
the 4S, which needs to be charged about once per day. The latest rumor
surrounding the iPhone 5 battery put it at 1430mAh capacity, compared to
Samsung's 2100mAh.
Then
there's the issue of connectivity, which is where Samsung really
shines. The can handle Galaxy S3 takes microSD cards and connects with a
standard microUSB. It's also MHL compliant, and can output HD video
with surround sound audio straight to an HDMI port. The iPhone 5, on the
other hand, will likely connect to less devices than any iPhone before
it. We fully expect the iPhone 5 to feature a smaller, likely 19-Pin,
dock connector (down from the classic 30-Pin). This means that the new
iPhone won't be able to connect with any devices or accessories designed
from previous iPhone, iPad and iPod models without some sort of special
adapter.
Conclusion:
There are a few advantages to the Samsung Galaxy S3, but if you care
about how your smartphone looks and feels in your hand, then it's
probably worth waiting until the iPhone 5's expected release date of
September 21. Act now, and you may end up kicking yourself when Apple
unveils it's latest masterpiece.
Apple's new smartphone confirmed as being the US company's most slender handset to date: it's 20g lighter and a full 1mm more slender than Samsung's flagship device, making it one of the most svelte mobiles on the market. That said, it's not quite "the world's thinnest smartphone" as Apple claimed tonight - unless the American firm has now patented the 'S' section of the dictionary.
